A pelvic exam may cause discomfort, but it is not painful. Let your healthcare provider know if you experience pain during a pelvic exam.

We recommend your annual gynaecological check-up when you are not on your period. However, if it is impossible to schedule at another time, you can still have the check-up while on your period.
